What Happens Next

  1. 1

    Arrest & Booking

You are taken into custody, fingerprinted, photographed and booked. Anything you say can be used against you. Ask for a lawyer and stop talking.

  2. 2

    Initial Appearance

Usually within 24 hours of arrest, a judge sets your release conditions: release on your own recognizance, a bond, or other terms.

  3. 3

    Arraignment

You are formally told the charges and enter a plea, usually not guilty. Your next court dates are set.

  4. 4

    Pretrial

Your attorney gets the evidence, challenges anything obtained illegally and negotiates with the prosecutor. Dismissals, reductions and diversion are often decided here.

  5. 5

    Resolution

Your case ends in a dismissal, a plea agreement, diversion or a trial. Whatever the path, you want someone fighting for the best possible outcome.

What to Do Right Now

  • Don’t talk about your case with police, friends or on jail calls. Jail calls are recorded.
  • Don’t post anything about it on social media.
  • Write down everything you remember while it’s fresh.
  • Keep every paper you were given: citations, release forms, court dates.
  • Never miss a court date. A missed date can mean a warrant.
  • Talk to a defense attorney before your first court date.

Ty has the ability, not many in his field seem to have, to recognize when a situation requires either a firm, bulldog approach or one that is best suited for a calm and reasonable approach with a little touch of honey. But he does it with only his client’s best interest in mind, not of anyone else’s. HIS best interest is always that of the CLIENT’S. I’ll never hesitate to recommend him to anyone in need of a reliable asset and dedicated ally to represent them in the justice system.

Ty was wonderful defending against outlandish order of protection filings that were being used as weapons in a divorce. I highly recommend his services.

I highly recommend Ty Law Group for their excellent representation with my case. Ty was on point from day one. He was professional, knowledgeable, and very responsive throughout the entire process. Ty made a very stressful situation much easier to handle and took the time to explain everything clearly. I was facing a very serious charge and Ty was able to get it reduced to the very minimum, which has given me another chance in life. I truly appreciate Ty and his staff for their support, dedication, and hard work on my case. Highly recommend Ty Law Group!

The first and last lawyer I will ever use. Ty has helped me throughout my college years, from my first MIC charge to dealing with a eviction and much more. He has always been there to guide me, answer my questions, and make stressful situations so much easier to handle. He genuinely cares about his clients and goes above and beyond to help. I’m extremely grateful for everything he has done for me and couldn’t recommend him enough!

Frequently Asked Questions

I was just arrested. What do I do right now?

Stay calm and stop talking about your case: not to the police, not to friends or family, and not on jail phone calls, which are recorded. Ask for a lawyer. Keep every paper you were given, write down what happened while it’s fresh, and call the office or text Ty’s cell.

Can you get my charges dismissed?

No honest attorney can promise a result before seeing the evidence. What Ty will do is go through every part of your case: the stop, the search, the evidence and how the police did their job. If there’s a problem, he uses it. Dismissals, reductions and diversion are all on the table, and he fights for the best outcome your case allows.

Should I talk to the police or the prosecutor?

No. You have the right to remain silent, so use it. Anything you say can be used against you, even if it seems harmless or the officer says they just want to hear your side. Don’t contact the prosecutor or the alleged victim either. Let your attorney do the talking.

How much will this cost? Do you offer payment plans?

Every case is different, so the fee depends on the charges and how much work your case needs. We’ll go over it during your free case evaluation. Payment plans are available.

Is the case evaluation really free?

Yes. Tell us what happened and we’ll review your situation and talk through your options, at no cost and with no obligation.
